Latter Day Voices! and school... ha ha!

Latter Day Voices has been such a blessing this semester. I hope I can continue with it in later semesters! My first performance with the choir was last Sunday. We sang Lord of the Small and The Spirit of God for a fireside at the Logan Tabernacle. Parents of children with disabilities or health problems shared their experiences and their testimonies. It was very touching.

This weekend was crazy for LDV, but of course it was a blast! We had a mini retreat Saturday morning at 7:00 and I hadn't had much sleep the two nights before. It went well. I got home at 10:30 and crashed until 3:45. I got ready and then headed out around 5:00 for another performance at a Stake Conference. After we performed there, all the girls headed over to Bethany's house to have an LDV GIRLS NIGHT!!! It was a blast! We visited, played with hair, told stories, and just had a fun and relaxing evening. I didn't get home until about 1:30 and then ended up talking with my roommates until 3:30. I've had a week full of really late nights, but it's been a great adventure and way worth it!

This week is probably going to be the most challenging of the semester so far. I have a USU 1350 (Biology) exam on Thursday and I have a paper due for English due on Friday. This will be my biggest week as far as homework goes. Shouldn't be too hard, I just hate Biology :P ha ha! It has nothing to do with the teacher, just the material.

I've been thinking about changing my major. I don't know if I can stand to stay behind a computer all my life. As much as I love computers, I don't know if I could handle it in a job setting. I like to be around people. I'm thinking about Music Therapy. Utah State is the only school in the whole state that offers that program and I want to check it out! A few girls in LDV are doing it and it sounds like a lot of fun! I've always wanted to do something with music, I just didn't know what. I'm also thinking about maybe minoring in FCHD. I have an appointment with an advisor this week, so we'll see what happens after that.

My Second Semester at AMAZING Utah State!

On Christmas Eve, I received a call from Brother Salmond, the director of the Institute audition choir called Latter Day Voices. He said that they recently had a few girls that had to quit and asked me if I would like to join. He told me to pray and think about it and that he'd get back to me soon. I prayed about it and felt that I should join. I went to the class for the first time yesterday, and it was seriously THE best! I felt like I was in an older version of A Capella with all new people! I walked in and everyone was hugging and congregated in the front of the room by the piano before class to talk and reunite. It was the best :) I was asked twenty questions every two seconds and was getting countless hugs and welcomes into the choir. :) I started class and rediscovered that Brother Salmond is a clone of Mr. Wood from high school, it's hilarious. Of course he has his differences, but they are so similar in so many ways! I've missed having choir. I didn't take any choir last semester, and I realized how much it effected me. I've been in choir since 7th grade and this was the first time since then that I haven't had choir. Entering that room was literally like entering my own personal heaven. I was so happy :) You don't realize how much you love something or care about something until you're taken away from it and experience time away from it. You start to appreciate it A LOT more.

On Thursdays until mid February, I get to sing for four hours straight! I go to Latter Day Voices practice and all of us head right over to the 1000 voice choir that Brother Salmond and Brother Hopkins direct. We are performing for Elder Ballard again, but this time at USU instead of BYU! It's going to be so fun!

I've been to all of my other classes and it seems like it'll be an adventure! All of my classes are generals, which means I have HUMONGOUS classes, ha ha! The only class that is little is my English 1010 class. Last semester I didn't have many huge classes, or at least, it didn't feel like it.  It will be quite interesting to see how hard homework and stuff is. Good news is that I will only have three finals on finals week this time instead of four! YIPEE! Finals week stinks. Good thing all of college isn't like that, ha!

Regular Institute is going to be great too! I'm taking Teachings of the Living Prophets, and I'm so excited! Something that isn't confusing! We get to read over all of the conference talks and basically analyze them. I LOVE reading conference talks, so I'm excited to break them down and learn more from them. I was excited to find out that a few girls from my home ward are in the same class as me! I was excited to see Michelle and Kimmy! :)

Heavenly Father has truly blessed me this semester. I'm going to be at the Institute building every day, and on Thursdays I will be there twice! The Spirit you feel there is amazing :) Last semester I liked Institute, but had a very hard time getting into it. I've noticed that it's like that for me though. I had a hard time switching from junior high Seminary to high school Seminary and sometimes had a really rough time switching teachers. This semester is great though!
